Eight Days A Week

posted 3 August 2008, Sunday

I was just browsing Lauren's (LOL schoolmate) blog earlier and I saw this post. It's about Twitter, the Beatles, and personality reading.

I immediately started forming a haphazard theory that maybe there’s a lot you can tell about a person by his or her favorite Beatles song. A song, in the most basic sense, is a poem set into music. Let’s assume that poetry (lyrics) is a reflection of universal human experiences, thoughts, attitudes, etc. Let’s also assume that a person loves a particular song because he or she feels a strong, personal connection to its message - the song could either reflect certain beliefs, philosophies, behaviors, or ways in which he/she perceives the self.

And it just made think: WHAT IS MY BEATLES SONG??? ZOMG I HAVE TO HAVE ONE! Actually my favorite song is this:

EIGHT DAYS A WEEK

Ooh I need your love babe,
Guess you know it's true.
Hope you need my love babe,
Just like I need you.
Hold me, love me, hold me, love me.
I ain't got nothin' but love babe,
Eight days a week.

Love you ev'ry day girl,
Always on my mind.
One thing I can say girl,
Love you all the time.
Hold me, love me, hold me, love me.
I ain't got nothin' but love girl,
Eight days a week.

Eight days a week
I love you.
Eight days a week
Is not enough to show I care.

Ooh I need your love babe,
Guess you know it's true.
Hope you need my love babe,
Just like I need you.
Hold me, love me, hold me, love me.
I ain't got nothin' but love babe,
Eight days a week.

Eight days a week
I love you.
Eight days a week
Is not enough to show I care.

Love you ev'ry day girl,
Always on my mind.
One thing I can say girl,
Love you all the time.
Hold me, love me, hold me, love me.
I ain't got nothin' but love girl,
Eight days a week,
Eight days a week,
Eight days a week.

It's not the best Beatles song out there, trufax. Lyrically, this one fails because it's so simple. But that's how I like my favorite Beatles song to be. It sounds charming too.

Speaking of "charming"... CHIRMEE. That was a code name my friend came up with for my crush back then (and now the thought of him makes me gag) (Even the code name makes me gag, but that's a different story). Anyway, once I had football practice at 5:30 am and I came really early. I was alone waiting for my teammates and it was dark even though there were a few lit night lamps around. I was a bit scared because I kept seeing strange shadows whenever I turned (gee thanks, Wild Imagination) so I sent a text message to my guy friend. And for some weird reason, the message I sent him had Chirmee in it. And my friend said "That's so cute. You think of him even when you're scared." Uh, right.

On a serious note, I think my friend can read me well. I do think of "the guy", whoever my flavor of the week/month/year is (LOL that made me think of popsicles. OHNOEZ, phallic symbol???), even in the oddest of times. It may sound creepy to you, but it has happened so many times that it has become normal for me. Like, OK bad example but it's the most accurate, if I were on the brink of dying, like I've been on an accident, and it's so bad and the pain is overwhelming, my life would flash before me, but get this, I guess the part of what I consider life is "the guy" so I would see the guy in my hallucinations. I just didn't go "poetic" there, did I? But yes I admit, it's cheesy but it's true.

I wonder what that Beatles song say about me. Or maybe this doesn't even have to be about me. Maybe it's the other way around. Maybe it's supposed to be about what my ~~lover~~ should be. But eww, obsessive much? Eight days a week?
