Holy crap, life update!

posted 19 October 2008, Sunday

I attended a wedding last Monday. It was a co-worker's and it was quite an interesting wedding because it's between a Catholic and a Buddhist; a Filipino and an Indonesian. They communicate to each other in English, which isn't even their mother tongue, but the priest who performed the sacrament speaks the truth; that love transcends language. And yes, of course it has to be there, the quote from Paul's letter to the Corinthians:

Love is always patient and kind; it is never jealous, love is never boastful or conceited; it is never rude or selfish; it does not take offense, and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins but delights in the truth; it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes. Love does not come to an end.

Funny. I saw A Walk To Remember again recently. It never fails to make me cry. (INORITE!!!)

I also had an interesting discussion with my other co-workers about wedding rites, like how it is for other religions. One thing is for certain: that marriage is a commitment. It is a vow. You should really want it and you should stick by your decision when you get married. It was hard for me to imagine my own future wedding (yes hopefully). I mean, for crying out loud, why would I even want to think of that at this stage of my life?! When girls are sketching of the dream gown they want to wear on their wedding day, I think of what I'm going to wear for that concert I plan to go to this weekend. That's how irrelevant marriage is to me right now. I love being single. Of course there are ups and downs to "blessed singleness" but that's the joy of it. If you can't even handle your own shit, how much more if you are with a partner who has his own shit to deal with as well? Anyway, all I know is that I want to keep all my shit together when I enter family life. I know I want a simple but happy one as opposed to the convoluted family tree that I have.

Last Wednesday I paid my bills at Globe and had the chance to try the iPhone over there for around 30 minutes. My verdict: that phone isn't for me. First of all, I never thought of owning a unit like that. I mean, having a cellular phone is already troublesome for me. I don't even use it as much as I did back in college. That iPhone thing is too overqualified for me. Second, it's so expensive for a phone. It's so not worth it! Third, I completely forgot that it was a phone when I was using it. It isn't a phone anymore. It's a high-tech slab tablet thingie that the guys at Apple want you to think of as a phone. The features will just make you forget that it is a phone. It's more like, iPalmtop. It makes you dependent on things that you can actually find in a computer but woohoo, you have the iPhone, you can do all your business shmusiness here! It also is so fragile. I don't think you can bring it around like you would an ordinary cellular phone. It's not as handy as it should be. Have you ever touched an iPhone? It's made of glass, right? Ulk. I remember that it was a big deal of a news that Kevin Rose dropped his iPhone. Dude, THE Kevin Rose dropped THE iPHONE, OH EM GEE!!!

Remember what I wrote previously about High School Musical? When I was ranting about Lucas Grabeel not being present at promo tours? Well, speaking of HSM, I received this message the day after:

Hi PExer!

Congratulations, you've won "High School Musical 3" premium items!

Hahaha awesome.
