OK probably now you can call me a sellout. I started monetizing this blog.
I figured that despite me trying to minimize my use of widgets, and even deleting my old blog entries circa 2003-2006, the traffic that goes to my blog has become heavier (Seriously, what the hell is happening? My projected bandwidth use by the end of the month has increased even with all the deletion thing I did!) and I had to pay more to get extra bandwidth. I wouldn't really do it if I'm not paying for my blog, but I am paying. It sucks, I know, but I have to balance things out now. Or break even? I don't know.
I am at Blip.TV and it offers payment as well, but I never have received anything from it at all. So maybe I can't count that as my first attempt at monetizing thingy. My videos over there have a low view count so I don't think I can really get something there. Not that getting paid there is important to me. I just want to have a place where I can host big ass videos. I mean, I wouldn't be able to share my past footages of The Click Five or Elliott Yamin if it weren't for my Blip account, right? YouTube's not even an option because the quality of the video degrades. Not cool. Uggh, forget Revver. Their media player sucks sometimes and my Blip account is "search engine friendlier."
Blip.TV uses AdBrite. I checked out AdSense first and got intimidated because of the terms. And people get kicked out of AdSense. But since I heard about AdBrite before, I might as well take a look at what it has to offer. It was actually easy setting up a new account. I just have to wait for a few hours for the ads to show up at the bottom of this site.
Yes, "bottom." I am distracted and annoyed by ads that talk to me, that I have to click the X mark at the upper right hand corner of the ad so I can close it. I am as distracted as you are. That is why I placed the ads at the bottom.
Why am I even explaining all these? I'm not obliged to do so, right? I actually don't know why I want to discuss it here. Perhaps I just want to set things straight before anything unpleasant happens, like.. I don't know.. stuff. If you hate me already... then you hate me already. I can't do anything about it, I guess. *super low low low low self-esteem. hahahaha!*
By the way, and sooo off-topic, on Twitter I found communitychannel from YouTube. I didn't know she swears a lot. Not that I need to know that she does. I was just surprised and all maybe because I don't watch her videos a lot or whatever. The thing is, she doesn't look like somebody who swears a lot... unlike... I don't know... JipsiK?
Here's another YouTuber: HappySlip. I guess due to her popularity on the website, the Department of Tourism perhaps thought that Christine can be some kind of ambassador or something to promote the Philippines to the world. I think she's a good choice. She has announced on her website that she's going here in the Philippines in a few days, a few weeks, not sure, and she's not just going to Manila. She'll also visit her parents' hometown, Nueva Ecija. And there are other places in her itinerary as well like Cebu, Bohol, Palawan and Tagaytay. Basically these places I have mentioned after Nueva Ecija are scenic spots. LOL not that Nueva Ecija isn't beautiful. I say it isn't a popular tourist destination, that's all. Haha. So yeah, DoT probably thought they could use Christine's help to encourage people to come over to the Philippines and enjoy and let loose and stuff. Her trip can also encourage fellow Filipinos to come back home even for a short time. Sweet, isn't it? I'm still waiting for a press release from DoT. I hope there is one in the works.
Speaking of vlogging, I was introduced to Coksiblue, a Filipino vlogger. I have not watched anything from him yet but seeing that he has dedicated his time to vlogging and film making excites me. Manuel Viloria has mentioned Coy (his real name) to me and when I checked out his site, it's like he's been doing this, vlogging I mean, for quite some time now, to the point that he made a small directory of Filipinos he knows have made a following in the "vlogosphere."
Guess what, I already found a firewire cable for my camera. 2008 should be a good year for vlogging.. We'll see...
/edit: HAHAHAHAHAHAH. I logged in at home to check if the ads are working. I didn't realize AdfrigginBrite is blocked in my laptop. Can't even log in to the damn site!
There's nothing wrong with monetising your blog.
HI!! Thanks for that. I guess I was thinking too much especially this is
the first time I'm doing it.
