I found my yearbook!

posted 8 October 2007, Monday

I found my yearbook. I thought I lost it when I started looking for it last night because I couldn't find it in my closet. But it was hidden so well that I didn't notice it was there all along. Silly me.

I said last time that I hope I could post more photos from high school. Here they are..

That's one of the pages from our yearbook. For my class, we listed everyone's name then somebody added a short description for each of us.  LOL look at mine. I had three descriptions but the first one was the best.

It meant I am really weird.

This is one of our class photos. I don't know what came in my head that I decided to don a pink hair band only for this photo session. Anyway, our class decided to bring sunglasses for the candid photos. This is one of those candid photos we had. I have to say that a girl sat willingly on my lap and you can see I was so happy about it. That kind of experience comes rarely, right? LOL I'm kidding. That's my friend Karen. She didn't know where to sit so she just sat on me. Hahahaha! If you notice, there's a girl at the back who looks like a hippie. Don't mind her. She's not important. Did you read that? Oh yes I did go there!

Here is our class adviser's message for us. Mentos girls, huh? I think it's true.

My page. LOL I made it smaller so it will be hard for you to read it. I even blocked some quotes. Seriously I don't have any idea why I said those things. In this camera shot I took, I left out the candid photos I have on the lower right corner of the page. You don't have to see those. Blech.

I have eyes that may remind you of Japanese horror movies. It doesn't even help that the makeup artist put some eyeliner on me and the photo is in black and white. My photo was also flipped horizontally. The baro (blouse) I was wearing is not mine. I had to remove it right after the shoot because the next person was going to wear it. The pearl necklace is also not mine like the blouse.

This is the page for the Intramurals and my team's photo is on the side so I had to turn the yearbook a bit so I can take a decent photo of it. Our batch won the indoor soccer event and I was the goalkeeper. Winning during Senior Year wasn't really that exciting though. It's like, everybody expected the Seniors to win anyway because we were leaving soon. And I was the goalie. I didn't do much during the games because my teammates took care of those undergraduates. I barely touched the ball. We were more on the offensive than the defensive. To be honest, it was during Freshman Year when victory was so sweet. Nobody thought we could win the championship because we were the newbies, but hey, we showed the upperclassmen it wasn't the case. I had to work my ass off because we had to play defense more. Me and the floor were like best friends during the games. We were like literally cheek to cheek and shit. I even got suspended by the referee (actually it was our soccer moderator, and he was supporting the Seniors that time) so I couldn't play for the next game which so happened to be against the Seniors. But it was sooooo a wrong call! Why the f would someone get suspended when s/he just kicked the ball the wrong way? So I stirred a little controversy. I was like, did you think the referee suspended me so I couldn't play during the Freshmen-Seniors game? Maybe he thought I was a threat? I wasn't serious about the accusation but I was like, hey it all fits the bigger picture and I didn't have to lie about anything; I just speculated. And my teammates were like, omg that's possible! LOL I love it. Hahaha! Of course I knew our moderator wouldn't do that to us. I was thinking that it was simply human error on my moderator's part because he's not a trained referee at all. When I was able to play again, it was awesome. There were a couple of times the games had to be settled with a penalty shoot out and everybody was nervous as heck every time it happened. It was just me between the kicker and the goal. F*cking intense! It was like, let's get this over and done with; bring it on! And every time I blocked the ball, my batch mates would cheer their heads off to distract the upperclassmen. So the upperclassmen probably thought I was an airhead because of that, because my batch mates chanted my name and stuff, but who cares?! We bagged the championship and they didn't. Believe it!

Fudge, what a long paragraph about soccer, huh? It doesn't stop there.

This is our club page. If you've noticed, the photo is colored. That's because that photo is actually not a part of the yearbook. I just placed it there over another photo which was published. Hehehe. The one that was published was for the soccer club = newbies. Our varsity team photo was not included and we were like, what da hale! So we thought we should just paste our own photo on the yearbook. As you can see there, we didn't have matching uniforms. My teammates have decided to showcase all our cheesy cheese curls uniforms and even got them mismatched for this photo. Our coach wasn't present that time but when he saw this photo, his reaction was hilarious. He was like, WTF! His motto is if you aren't good, at least look good. So it just means presentation is major for him, and this isn't exactly what he had in mind for the shoot. He wanted a formal one with all of us standing side by side, then the front row girls would kneel on one knee and stuff. You know, like those typical football team photos. He even said, "Somebody here looked like she was sunbathing at the beach!" HAHAHAHA. The look on his face, damn!

When I found out there's actually a page for school victory moments thingy, I was like, OMGoodness, I'm in 4 photos!! LOL. My favorite is the one on the upper left because that was when we placed second place in the tournament. It was championship day and I was late and my brother and I got lost because we couldn't find the field we were supposed to play on. When I arrived, I was only able to play for 2 minutes (I was already a defender, not a goalie anymore) and I barely touched the ball. My coach didn't put me back in the game anymore because he was preparing me for a possible penalty shoot out. But the shoot out never came because our goalie wasn't able to block the last goal. Oh well. It was a good high scoring game (5-4) for a championship. This event made our team attract some offers. We were invited to play for the Gothia Cup and other football tournaments like the one happening in Barcelona. But it meant that we should get sponsors to play overseas and we didn't have much funding so no one was able to accept the offer.

The batch pic, y'all! We weren't even complete but we already look so many. The whole photo session was both fun and scary. Fun, because we were together for one photo but scary especially to those at the top because we had to climb a high custom made bleacher.

I was on the upper left part of the bleacher! If you notice, I was beside Tinapie who also happened to be the one beside me in that "Winning is a habit" soccer photo. My best friend happens to be in the front row because she's short. Oh yea, we were like David and Goliath in high school, only we didn't fight like David and Goliath and we're girls.

Maybe I'm still stuck in the 90s, maybe not. But I don't know.. There's something about high school that makes want to relive it even if high school isn't perfect, yknow. The high school reunion I was meant to go to last time was for the oldies who graduated in 1980s. It wasn't really what we can call OUR homecoming. My classmate Miko is planning a get-together some time soon though. Hope I can see my classmates again.
